Webinar: Epinephrine, Benadryl®, and the evolving conversation on the treatment of anaphylaxis

What the webinar is about: During this interactive session, with your input provided through polling, our experts will address common concerns about treating anaphylaxis with epinephrine and when antihistamines might be given. As part of this, you’ll gain a better understanding of the signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis and when to use epinephrine. Plus, learn from our experts about discussions underway to evaluate the current protocol of going to the hospital after using this life-saving medication and how that may change. Register now.

Dr. Jennifer Protudjer & Dr. Moshe Ben-Shoshan
  • Dr. Moshe Ben-Shoshan: Dr. Ben-Shoshan is a physician in the division of Allergy/Immunology at Montreal Children’s Hospital. He has established the largest cross-Canada registries that collect data on the diagnosis and management of food allergy, anaphylaxis, drug allergy, and primary immunodeficiencies; and his research has resulted in more than 100 published manuscripts. Dr. Ben-Shoshan is on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, on Food Allergy Canada’s Healthcare Advisory Board, and on the steering committee for Canada’s National Food Allergy Action Plan.
  • Dr. Jennifer Protudjer: Dr. Protudjer is the Endowed Research Chair in Allergy, Asthma and the Environment, and an associate professor in the Department of Pediatrics and Child Health at the University of Manitoba, an epidemiologist with the Clinical Trials Platform at the George and Fay Yee Center for Healthcare Innovation, and a research scientist at the Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba.

Spring session: Allergy Pals/Allies online mentorship

Sign up your 7-to-15-year-old today for the Spring session of Allergy Pals/Allies. The free, 8-week online mentorship sessions will run from April 30th to June 18th, 2023. These sessions are a great way for youth with food allergy to connect with others managing the condition. 

Kids who participate will: 

  • Build a support network by connecting with other children who have food allergy 
  • Learn strategies for managing their food allergy 
  • Feel more confident managing their food allergy 

Next session is April 20th! Small group webinar (maximum 6 participants): Managing food allergy and anaphylaxis  

Get your questions on managing food allergy and anaphylaxis answered while connecting with others! Attend one of our free 90-minute interactive webinars led by a trained parent mentor. You’ll learn fundamental information about daily management and living confidently with food allergy and anaphylaxis.

These sessions are geared towards parents of children who have been recently diagnosed with a food allergy. It’s also a great session for others who are interested in this topic or would like a refresher.

Join blogger and cookbook author Amanda Orlando for the inaugural “Free to Be Me” Food Allergy Wellness Retreat that she is organizing. The focus of this retreat is self-acceptance and thriving with food allergy.   

The retreat includes a series of workshops, speakers, and panel discussions. You’ll also have an opportunity to hear from our executive director, Jennifer, and members of our Youth Advisory Panel.

This month, we are sharing a webinar on travelling with food allergy. It’s a timely session as many of us may be travelling this month over the various holidays.

You’ll learn the basics on travelling confidently with food allergy, and hear from a panel of young adults who share their experiences and tips on managing their allergies during travel.
