Learn about navigating milk allergy and how to address nutritional and other challenges posed by this priority food allergen. Milk can be an ingredient in many foods people may not expect like canned tuna, processed meats, and candy and can be tough to manage as a result.
What the webinar is about: The difference between milk allergy and lactose intolerance, the prevalence of milk allergy, and the possibility for outgrowing it. With this session, you’ll also gain a better understanding of managing milk allergy, preventing allergic reactions through the avoidance of milk and milk proteins, and the impact on the diet.
Who is speaking:
- Dr. Carina Venter, an allergy specialist dietitian and associate professor in pediatric allergy and immunology at Children’s Hospital Colorado and the University of Colorado. She is a past Chair of the International Network of Dietitians and Nutritionists in Allergy, and is a member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (AAAAI), American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (ACAAI), European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) and the British Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (BSACI). Dr. Venter is a medical advisor to Food Allergy Research and Education (FARE) and the American Partnership for Eosinophilic Disorders (APFED), and she has been involved in allergy prevention guidelines in the US and Europe.
- Marion Groetch, a dietitian/nutritionist and the Director of Nutrition Services at the Jaffe Food Allergy Institute and Associate Professor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York. She serves on the Medical Advisory Board of the International Association for Food Protein Enterocolitis, is a past Chair of the International Network of Dietitians and Nutritionists in Allergy, a senior advisor to Food Allergy Research and Education (FARE), and plays an activerole in both the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (AAAAI) and the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI).
