FACT: Many people who are allergic to tree nuts can consume seeds such as sesame, sunflower, poppy and pumpkin, without issue.
There are some who are allergic to both tree nuts and seeds, but this is not common.
Additionally, some people with tree nut allergy are allergic to more than one type of nut, and some with seed allergy are allergic to more than one type of seed.
Tip: If you’re avoiding tree nuts and seeds, keep in mind that cross-contamination in processing/manufacturing can happen, and it’s important to read labels and to contact the manufacturer if more information is needed.
